    Good to know

JPG (JPEG) is the most widely used photo format. It opens on virtually every device, app and website with a reasonable file size, but it uses lossy compression and does not support transparency.

PNG is a lossless format, so no quality is lost when saving. It supports transparency, which makes it popular for logos, icons, screenshots and design work, but photos saved as PNG are large.

Turning a JPG into PNG cannot bring back detail already lost to JPG compression. What it does give you is a file you can edit and re-save without further quality loss, and one that design tools handle well for background removal.

Everything happens inside this browser. Your files are never sent over the internet, so personal photos and work images stay private, and the converted files no longer carry metadata such as GPS location.

    FAQ

Does converting JPG to PNG improve quality?

No — it cannot exceed the original. But once saved as PNG, the image will not degrade further no matter how many times you edit and save it. Expect a larger file.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Conversion runs entirely in your browser on your own device. Your files never leave your computer or phone.

Can I convert many files at once?

Yes. Add as many files as you like; they are converted one after another and you can download them all with Save all (ZIP).

Does it work on my phone?

Yes, in iPhone and Android browsers. Very large images may be scaled down automatically to fit your device’s memory.
