How to use
- Press Tabata to set 20 seconds work / 10 seconds rest / 8 rounds, or pick another preset like HIIT 30/30.
- Press Start: after a 10-second get-ready, the workout begins. Work turns the screen red, rest turns it green, and beeps count down the last 3 seconds.
- Press Big view for a full-screen display you can read from across the room. The screen stays awake while running.
Good to know
Tabata training comes from a 1996 study by Professor Izumi Tabata in Japan: 20 seconds of all-out effort followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated 8 times for 4 minutes. It’s known for improving both aerobic and anaerobic fitness in very little time.
Full-body moves work best — burpees, jump squats, mountain climbers, high knees or kettlebell swings. Do one move for all 8 rounds, or alternate four moves twice.
If you’re new to it, start with one set and build up to 2–3 sets with about a minute of rest between them. Warm up for at least five minutes, and check with a professional if you have heart or joint conditions.
FAQ
How long is a Tabata workout?
One set is 20 seconds work + 10 seconds rest × 8 rounds = 4 minutes, not counting the get-ready time.
Can I change the intervals?
Yes. Set work and rest seconds, rounds, sets and rest between sets in Settings — they’re remembered next time.
There’s no sound on my phone.
Check that your phone isn’t on silent. Browsers only play sound after you press Start yourself.
